Privacy Policy
This policy describes how the Metrom mobile apps handle information. It is written to match how the apps work today. It is not formal legal advice.
Metrom (“we,” “us”) is a practice metronome for iOS and Android operated by Ryan Olson. We designed Metrom to keep your practice data on your device.
Information we do not collect
Metrom does not require an account and does not provide cloud sync.
- We do not collect names, email addresses, or account credentials through the app.
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the current apps.
- We do not upload microphone audio, song presets, or settings to our servers.
Information stored on your device
Metrom stores preferences and song presets locally on your device (for example BPM, time signature, tones, accents, and related practice settings). This data stays on your device unless you back up or transfer your device using tools you control (such as platform backups).
Microphone
If you use Listen / tempo detection, Metrom may access the microphone to analyze ambient rhythm and suggest tempo candidates. Audio is processed on your device for that feature and is not transmitted to us or to third-party services by Metrom.
You can deny or revoke microphone permission in your device settings. Without permission, Listen features will not work; the rest of the metronome continues to function.
Other device permissions
Depending on platform, Metrom may request or use:
- Haptics / vibration — optional beat feedback.
- Background audio / media playback — so the click can continue while you use other apps, with system Now Playing / foreground service behavior as applicable.
- Notifications (Android) — related to foreground media playback when required by the system.
These permissions are used for metronome functionality, not for tracking you across apps or sites.
App stores and operating systems
Apple, Google, and your device OS may collect diagnostic, crash, or usage information under their own policies when you install or use Metrom. We do not control that collection.
Website
This website (metrom.dev) is a static site used for product information, support, and policies. It does not require a login. Your browser and hosting provider (Cloudflare) may process standard request logs (such as IP address and user agent) according to their practices.
Children
Metrom is a general-audience practice tool. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app.
Changes
If Metrom’s data practices change (for example if we add accounts or analytics), we will update this policy and revise the effective date.
